NDA Law’s commercial and tax lawyer Lisa Christo has made the finalists list in Australia’s largest and most prestigious national award program for young lawyers.

The annual Lawyer’s Weekly 30 under 30 Awards showcases the country’s top talent across 30 categories. The 2020 line-up saw a record number of competitive entries, with Ms Christo making the finalist list for her work in tax law.

NDA Law’s Managing Director Andrea Michaels said Ms Christo’s finalist nomination was a credit to her professionalism, expertise, and hard work.

“Lisa is truly an outstanding young lawyer and we are so proud to have her on our team. She takes a perceptive and strategic approach to complex legal matters in both tax and commercial law. Her dedication to legal practice is such a credit to our industry and our firm. I am proud to see her win these accolades for what has been an outstanding year.

“Luckily, Lisa is also a person who gives back. She is heavily involved in pro-bono work as a board member of a number of South Australian charities, and she is still sharing her knowledge teaching commercial law subjects at Adelaide University’s Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.

Ms Christo said she was thrilled to be nominated for the 30 under 30 Awards, especially in tax law which is often male dominated. Ms Christo said tax law is often an overlooked area of law for female graduates eyeing their careers, but it is an essential consideration for businesses of all sizes.

“I think it’s really important that young lawyers develop a strong commercial acumen so they can better understand the needs of their clients. Understanding the significance of tax laws in key industries is a good way to do that because the right advice can have a significant bottom line effect on business.

“In Australia recently we have had some major changes in the tax environment. This increasing complexity really motivates me to deliver the best solutions I can to my clients, while keeping them up to date with the ever-changing legislative framework on both a federal and state level.

“Being a finalist in these awards is really wonderful because it has given me a chance to stand up with some of the most outstanding young lawyers from Australia’s biggest corporate firms and international offices. I’m really honoured to be recognised in this way.”

The Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 program identifies depth of talent and outstanding achievements for Australia’s young lawyers – highlighting a passion for the law and dedication for personal advancement. The award winners will be announced at the first live broadcast in the history of the awards on 29th May 2020.
