NDA Law has once again made the finals in the national Women in Law Awards, a highlight event of the legal industry which celebrates outstanding female lawyers and the firms that support them.

In 2018 NDA Law was the first South Australian law firm to win the national title of ‘Boutique Diversity Firm of the Year’.

Managing Director Andrea Michaels said she is hoping 2020 will be just as successful with the firm making it into the finalists’ list once again in three categories: for Boutique Diversity and Ms Michaels for the individual awards of Executive of the Year and Thought Leader of the Year. National winners will be announced at a black tie event in Melbourne on November 22.

“I’m really honoured to be recognised for the work we do at NDA Law where the whole team makes building a truly inclusive environment for both employees and clients a real priority for our business.

“I hope being part of the Women In Law Awards will provide positive role modelling for other young women entering the legal industry and give them the passion to advance their own legal careers. Times are changing and so is the workplace. Australian women lawyers make a huge contribution to the industry. It’s wonderful to have this event that brings us all together and provides a sense of camaraderie and real celebration.

“We need to work hard to build a profession where women at all levels feel valued, supported, and encouraged to aspire to positions of leadership. Drop-out rates for women in the legal profession are too high and we don’t have enough reaching leadership positions. Like in other male-dominated industries, gender equity is an area that needs significant improvement.

“Tax, commercial law, succession planning and workplace law are very important areas of our practice. Yet traditionally they are often driven by male partners. At NDA Law we are very proud this year to have an all-female team for the first time and our firm continues to thrive. We’re here to ensure our clients’ long-term business success, and gender has nothing to do with that.”

NDA Law includes an expanding national client base providing advice in areas including tax, corporate structuring, estate planning, family business succession planning, IP, trademarks, corporate advisory and social media services. The firm has won numerous national and international awards including Best Lawyers list six years in a row for commercial law, tax, and wealth & succession planning, and now employment law; Corporate LiveWire Finance Award for ‘Best Boutique Law Firm in Australia’; Global Excellence Award for ‘Most Influential Woman in Tax Law – Australia’; ‘Best Tax Lawyer’, International Advisory Expert Awards; 2018 Lawyers Weekly Women in Law Awards (‘Best Boutique Diversity Firm’); 2018 finalist Women’s Agenda Leadership Awards (‘Professional Services’); 2019 APAC Business Awards winner ‘Best Tax Law Firm’ (Australia), APAC ‘Leaders in Commercial Law’ (Australia),the International Advisory Experts Award (IAEA) for ‘Superannuation Law within Australia’, and the Corporate LiveWire Award for ‘Legal Professional of the Year’.
