Andrea Michaels named a finalist in the 2017 Telstra Business Women’s Awards

Andrea Michaels, Managing Director of NDA Law, has been named a state finalist in the prestigious Telstra Business Women’s Awards, to be announced in Adelaide next week.

Now in their 23rd year, the Telstra Business Women’s Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of South Australian business women working across a number of industry sectors.

Ms Michaels was singled out in the ‘Entrepreneur’ category for her success in establishing one of SA’s only female-owned corporate law firms, as well as her work mentoring young women in the legal industry, and her passion for social justice issues.

“To be named a South Australian finalist in the Telstra Business Women’s Awards is a real honour, not just to have my own journey recognised, but also to be able to stand alongside so many remarkable local women who have made their mark on the business landscape in various ways.

“The Awards really highlight the depth of female talent we have in this state and what they are capable of achieving.

“Law is still very much a boy’s club and although we have a high number of women graduating in the field, there’s such a small percentage who make it to the top. As a finalist in these Awards. I’d like to think it could inspire others to pursue their own leadership dreams.

“NDA Law is all about showing how you can build a different kind of law firm where it’s less about gender and billable hours, and more about expertise, great client service, and outstanding team work.

That’s the essence of a thriving business.” Since NDA Law was established in January 2015, Andrea Michaels and her firm have won a number of national awards and endorsements, including a place in the Best Lawyers list of Australia’s lawyers for Commercial Law, Tax Law, and Wealth and Succession Planning. The firm also won ‘Best Boutique Law Firm’ in the 2017 Corporate Live Wire Finance Awards earlier this year.

In additional to the Telstra Business Women’s Awards, Ms Michaels is also a finalist in the national Women in Law Awards to be announced next week in Melbourne.

Local Telstra award winners will be announced at a dinner on Tuesday October 17, with national finals to be held on November 21.
