NDA’s Andrea Michaels a finalist in national 2017 Women in Law Awards

Andrea Michaels, Managing Director of NDA Law, has made the final round in three categories of the national Women in Law Awards, to be announced in Melbourne next month.

The annual Women in Law awards are run by media group Lawyers Weekly and celebrate the achievements of women in the legal industry.

Ms Michaels was chosen from a competitive field of entrants representing some of Australia’s largest law firms. She is the only South Australian woman to be included in the list of finalists for ‘Executive of the Year’, ‘Boutique Diversity Law Firm of the Year’, and ‘Thought Leader of the Year.’

Ms Michaels was recognised for her vision and strategy that has rapidly accelerated the growth of her Adelaide firm and built a unique culture within her practice.

She said it was important to recognise the work done by women at every level in the industry and to provide inspiration to encourage others to strive for leadership positions.

“The Women in Law Awards are an important event because they provide an example of what women in the industry can achieve.

“Even though there are a large percentage of women graduating as lawyers, very few make it to senior leadership positions, or ever manage their own firms. I hope this will change in the future.

“Women in the legal profession can be very successful because they collaborate, build diverse teams, and understand the importance of working with clients as partners. These are areas that are very important at NDA Law.”

Since NDA Law was established in January 2015, Andrea has won a number of national awards and endorsements, including a place in the Best Lawyers list for Commercial Law, Tax Law and Wealth and Succession Planning.  NDA Law also won ‘Best Boutique Law Firm’ in the 2017 Corporate Live Wire Finance Awards earlier this year.

The Women in Law Awards will be announced in Melbourne at a gala dinner on 20 October.
